Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、高い分析性能(精度・感度)を持つ高性能紙デバイスを開発するとともに、紙デバイスの多方面への応用を実現するための基盤技術の構築することである。流路体積のばらつきの少ない紙デバイスの作製法と均一性の高い紙を開発することで、分析性能が悪いものという紙デバイスの既成概念を覆す、高精度・高感度な高性能紙デバイスを開発する。様々な紙デバイス(免疫分析デバイス、細胞アッセイデバイス、細胞分離デバイス、教育ツール用デバイス)を開発することで、分析化学・ライフサイエンス・化学教育などの分野に大きく展開する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The objectives of this research are to develop high-performance paper-based devices with high analytical performance (accuracy and sensitivity) that overturn the existing concept of conventional paper-based devices as having poor analytical performance, and to establish fundamental technologies to realise the application of paper-based devices in many fields and to expand them significantly into the field of analytical chemistry. Specifically, the following research items were carried out: A: research on paper-based devices with high analytical performance (including image analysis technology); B: development of paper-based immunoassayl devices; C: development of paper-basedcell assay and cell separation devices; D: development of paper-based devices for educational tools. As a result, we succeeded in expanding paper-based devices into fields such as analytical chemistry, life sciences, and chemical education.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究で開発された各種紙デバイスは、食品分析、環境分析、リモートラーニング(科学実験)など幅広い分野へ応用されることが期待される。特に、スマートフォンと組み合わせて利用することで、さまざまなオンサイト分析の新しいツールとしての利用が期待できる。
