Outline of Research at the Start

電子の磁石としての性質であるスピンの流れを制御することにより有用な電子デバイスを実現してきたスピントロニクスの分野に「情報流」の概念を導入する。このことにより、ナノサイズの磁石とその複合系における情報熱力学の学理を構築する。得られた知見は省エネルギーで知的な情報デバイス・システムを構築するための基礎となる。具体的には磁気スキルミオンと呼ばれる磁石の中に発生するナノサイズの粒子の熱運動を利用した情報熱機関を実現する。さらに、これらの応用として超低消費エネルギースピントロニクス計算機の動作を実証する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

情報熱機関:R5年度は室温における磁気スキルミオンの運動方程式に基づきその質量と熱ノイズなどの解析を行った。この結果,高周波にある質量に起因するノイズピークは一つではなく二つあることを見出した。2個のスキルミオンを閉じ込めたセル内でのそれぞれのスキルミオンの運動を観察した。情報熱力学的な解析により自然な状態ではマックスウェルの悪魔が存在しないことを証明した。さらに一つのスキルミオンにエネルギーを与えることにより自律型のマックスウェルの悪魔を生成する素子を設計した。
R4に作製した、粒子シミュレーターを用いて2個のスキルミオンを含むシステムにおける情報流をエントロピーの符号に着目して解析した。これまでに開発した集束イオンビームなどによるスキルミオンポテンシャルの制御法を利用して素子作製を行なったがスキルミオンが予定したように運動しなかった。しかし、電圧制御性についてはより電圧感度の高い膜の作製に成功した。
センサー:磁界センサーになるトンネル接合の作製をした。磁気光学顕微鏡による検出の広帯域化のためにフォトダイオードを取り付けた。
計算機:拡散係数の高いスキルミオンを用いた結果,計算能力が下がっていることを見出した。計算能力とピニングとの関係について調べる必要がある.引き続き、スキルミオン回路の消費エネルギーと計算時間・計算能力の関係をアニーリングの考えも入れて理論的に考察する。
また、引き続きブラウニアン計算機の学理構築に取り組んだ。特にブラウン回路の情報熱力学的コストの評価法に着目した成果を得た。さらに、より複雑で大規模なトークンベースブラウニアン回路シミュレーションを効率的に行うために、回路のグラフィカルな構築を補助するプログラムの作成に取り組んだ。

Reason

これまでにスキルミオン間の情報の流れを情報熱力学的に評価することに成功した。また外部制御によるマックスウェルの悪魔の動作に成功した。さらに、自律的なマックスウェルの悪魔の作製に向けて、まず、自然な系におけるマックスウェルの悪魔の検出を行い、マックスウェルの悪魔が存在しないことを実証した。さらにエネルギーの供給により自立型のマックスウェルの悪魔を生成する素子の設計に加えて作製も始めており順調に研究が推移している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

平成6年度は最終年度であるため自立型のマックスウェルの悪魔の実証および情報熱力学のスピントロニクスにおける有用性と実用性を実施例を含めて明らかにしたい。
