| Outline of Research at the Start |
ウクライナにおける正教会は20世紀以降、分裂と対立に苦しんでいる。最大宗派であるウクライナ正教会（UOC-MP)はロシア正教会と結びつきを有する教会である。ロシアとの紛争後、国家による支援を受けた新しい正教会（OCU)が創設され、両者の対立は激化した。
2つの教会は弱者支援や軍の後援など、それぞれに積極的な社会活動を展開することで、正当性アピールに努めている。これらの活動は、結果的に、ウクライナ社会における公共性や市民社会の確立に繋がっていく可能性を有する。教会という宗教組織による国家や社会とのかかわりを再考することで、ポスト社会主義圏における公共宗教について宗教社会学の立場から検討を加える。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research project aims to re-examine the Orthodox Church in Ukraine from the concept of public religion. Following the onset of Russia's full-scale attack on Ukraine, the Ukrainian government legally prohibited the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), which was deemed to be connected to Russia. As a result, the principles guaranteed by the constitution, such as the separation of church and state and freedom of conscience, have been undermined. This research examines the changes in these preconditions from a sociological perspective on religion.
Additionally, the study investigates the situation of priests and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church who have fled abroad, shedding light on the public nature of the Orthodox Church within the community of Ukrainian refugees.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は、戦時下の社会において宗教が果たす公共性について検討した。現在、ウクライナのみならずロシアの周辺国家においても、ロシア正教会と関係を持つ正教会の活動を法的に禁止しようとする動きが生じている。また、ロシアやウクライナのみならず、正教会が戦時動員に思想的、社会的に積極的に関わっている状況がある。戦争という非常事態において、宗教の公共性を検討するための前提条件が大きく変化していく様を、宗教社会学的な見地から検討した点に本研究の学術的意義があった。
また、戦時下のウクライナにおける宗教に対する社会的関心に対して、本研究課題は現状分析や歴史的文脈を示すことで、応答することができた。
