本研究では、謡本出版における書肆が果たした役割について考察し、江戸時代に謡本出版が爆発的に広がった文化的背景を追究していく。従来の謡本研究はその本が製作された時代の大夫やその弟子の活動に注目し研究されることが多かったが、謡本出版発展期には素人たち重要な役割を果たしたと考えられる。そこで本研究では寛永期から明暦期に刊行された謡本群に注目する。この時代は、低品質にも関わらず、謡の秘伝をも刻した詳細な内容を有している謡本が、複数の書肆から刊行された。こうした謡本の成立過程を分析することで、謡本制作における素人の活動の重要性を明らかにしていく。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study examines the changes in the Utaibon of Kanze published in the early Edo period and the activities of Publishers during this period. Since the modern era, Utaibons have been strictly controlled by the headmaster of each school (Soke, tayu), but in the early days of publication, amateurs were relatively free to alter the lyrics, and this activity became the driving force behind the explosive popularity of Utaibons In order to analyze this activity in detail, we focused on the Publishers that published Utaibons, and clarified what kind of chant books each Publisher published and how these books were shared among Publishers.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
謡本は楽譜と物語の中間的な性格をもつ特殊なテキストである。また、謡本は所持者が教えられた内容を書き込むことでほんとうの意味で〈完成〉するテキストであるため、どれ一つとして同じ本はない。さらに、江戸時代初期の謡本刊本は写本と版本の両方の性格を有するテキストである。このような書籍が、出版という新しいメディアによって、どのように制作されたかを明らかにすることは、能楽研究に限らず、江戸初期の出版文化研究において重要な意味をもつ。
