Outline of Research at the Start

シェイクスピアの作品世界には、２種類の歴史がある。一群の「英国歴史劇」があるかと思えば、他方に一連の「ローマ史劇」が存在する。前者は、創世記に始まり黙示録に終わる「救済史」、すなわちキリスト教世界の普遍的歴史観をその大前提とする。後者は、暴君の追放を通じた共和制ローマの樹立に始まり、共和政末期の混乱状態に終わる「異教ローマ史」という明確な前提の下に構想されている。これらの関係の解明を目的である。
