Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、サイードが本来「比較文学者」「文学理論家」であるという事実に立ち返り、その文学理論としての革新性と限界を（理論的かつ実証的な観点から）正確に見定めることによりサイードの〈遺産〉の核心に迫るとともに、サイードが提唱した「世俗批評」が「ポスト世俗」と呼ばれる現代にこそ（逆説的にも）批評的・思想的に有効な拠点となりうることを実践的に示すことを主眼とする。そこで鍵となるのが「世俗」と「世界」という二つの概念を内包するworldlinessというタームであるが、これを文学理論の文脈において精緻化し、ひいては人文社会科学一般が取り組むべき現代的課題に通用する概念にまで鍛え上げることが目指される。
