アイルランドの国民詩人・劇作家W.B.イェイツ、アメリカ出身の詩人エズラ・パウンドの能楽との遭遇、またギリシャ・アイルランド出身のラフカディオ・ハーンの明治の日本体験が、その作品と詩学の根幹に、西洋・日本の境界を超えた独特の普遍的境地を生み出したこと、また、その現代的意義を検証する。申請者は、彼らの作品に基づく新作狂言の国内外での上演を企画運営し培ってきた実践的既存研究を継続、独自の知見を展開する
