本研究では日本語の比較構文において「コンテクスト比較 (contextual comparison)」がやはり存在するという仮説を追求する。
日本語比較構文の意味論研究はBeck, Oda, and Sugisaki (2004)以来、急速に活発となった。しかし、Beck, Oda, and Sugisakiが唱えたコンテクスト比較というやや特殊な仮説は大きな支持を得るには至らなかった。
日本語におけるコンテクスト比較の仮説は一見死んだかのように見える。しかし、近年コンテクスト比較の分析は多言語のデータを得て進化を遂げた。また日本語の新たなデータも発見された。本研究では、日本語におけるコンテクスト比較の復活を模索する。
