本研究は、心理臨床家と仏教者が、臨床心理学と仏教というそれぞれの専門性を表出する際に、また相互影響や役割について検討し、クライエントを支援するために有効な対応あり方に対し提言を行う。
まず、心理臨床家の宗教的な事象への態度やスピリチュアリティに対する考え方を明らかにし、それが心理臨床家の行う心理的な支援にどう影響するか、また、仏教者の心理的支援のあり方を検討する。さらに、心理臨床家と仏教者の人間への支援についてその重なりと差異を検討する。
心理臨床家の宗教に対するどのような態度が心理支援を行う上で効果的かについて、心理臨床家と宗教者の心理的支援における役割や連携のあり方について報告する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The results of this study can be summarized into three main points.The first point is that the practice of spiritual care was examined from a systemic perspective from both psychological and religious perspectives, and the overlapping areas of the two were presented.
The second study, which targeted qualified clinical psychologists, focused on "the views on life and death" when providing spiritual care, examined the impact that "the views on life and death" have on the assistance they provide, and offered suggestions on the attitude that clinical psychologists themselves should take regarding death.
The third study examined the influence of "the views of life and death" held by monks from 13 traditional Japanese Buddhist sects on the way they provide support, and presented the differences between them and clinical psychologists.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
近年、心理臨床家は、医療現場における終末期の患者の支援や福祉の現場での高齢者のサポートが求められている。そういった時代背景の中で、死に向き合うクライエントへの心理臨床家による支援のあり方についての知見を提示したことに学術的意義がある。
最近になって、死に向き合う当事者や家族の支援に「臨床宗教師」と呼ばれる宗教者が携わるようになったため、心理臨床家は宗教者と共にどのように支援していくかという視点を提供できた。特に、「死生観」という概念に着目し、心理臨床家と仏教者の死生観の違いや援助に与える影響を検討できた点が成果といえる。また、両者の連携可能性についても提案できた点には社会的意義がある。
