本研究は、新型たばこに対する小中高校生のイメージや興味・関心、知識等を明らかにし、その実態に即した新たな喫煙防止教育のあり方を検討するものである。1年目は調査協力の得られた小・中・高等学校20校で実態調査を行い、ALとICTを用いた教育プログラム及び教材開発を行う。2年目から3年目には、実際に喫煙防止教育を実施し、介入前後の質問紙調査等によりその成果を分析、検討し、今後の教育のあり方を提案する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This survey was conducted to investigate students' perceptions, interests, and concerns regarding new types of tobacco products (such as e-cigarettes), with the aim of exploring new approaches to smoking prevention education.
During the study period (2020-2024), smoking prevention education, including information on new tobacco products, was implemented in elementary and middle schools, yielding valid responses from approximately 2,400 students. Approximately 40% of the students reported having habitual smokers within their families, and half of those smokers used heated tobacco products. Before the lessons, approximately 25% of elementary school students considered e-cigarettes to be safe, but this figure decreased to 10% after the lessons. Knowledge and perceptions regarding heated tobacco products did not influence attitudes or awareness toward smoking.
The study suggests that education aimed at conveying accurate knowledge about new tobacco products is crucial moving forward.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本調査では、近年急速に普及している新型たばこ（加熱式たばこや電子たばこ等）に関する知識を含めた喫煙防止教育を小中学生に対して実施し、今後の若年層に対する効果的な喫煙防止教育のあり方について示唆を得ることができた。さらに、家族における新型たばこの利用状況を明らかにするとともに、家族の喫煙状況と児童・生徒のたばこに対する意識や態度との関連性を分析することで、対象者の背景を踏まえた喫煙防止教育の重要性についても言及することが可能となった。
本成果は、わが国の喫煙率のさらなる低減を目指す施策の推進に資する基礎的資料となり得るものであり、その点において大きな社会的意義を有しているといえる。
