Outline of Research at the Start

2020年度は本研究の中心となるメカニズムの提案、そしてそれに付随する諸問題、例えば格表示の問題(格の付与に関するメカニズム)、動詞と項の不可能な選択関係を産出してしまう過剰生成の問題などを考察する。同時に提案されたメカニズムの理論的・経験的帰結を考察する。2021年度は日本語以外の膠着型の格を持つ韓国語やヒンディー語などの言語を考察し、本研究の成果を論文雑誌に投稿する予定である。その中で適宜、途中の研究成果を国内及び海外学会に応募していく。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は日本語の格助詞の意味論を考察するところから始まった。具体的には格助詞は個体を取り事象の集合を返す関数であると提案し、日本語の項構造の廃止、またそれに伴うかき混ぜ操作による自由語順の廃止を提案した。これまでの成果を国際学会に投稿し、その論文が刊行予定である。また名古屋大学の田中秀治氏を共同研究者に迎え、当初予定していた以上の現象をカバーできる状況になってきた。現在のところ2024年度に国際学会での発表が1件が決まっている。具体的には日本語をはじめとする膠着型の格を持つ言語では主語や目的語の省略ができるが、これまで先行研究では目に見えない代名詞proが想定されていた。しかし本研究の提案が正しければ、日本語にproを想定しなくとも当該の現象を説明することができる。よって、理論的によりインパクトが大きい研究成果が期待でき、現在論文雑誌に投稿すべく、田中氏と論文の準備を進めている。

Reason

概ね順調に進んでいる。現在はMIT Working Papers in Linguistics からの論文の出版が決まっている。また2024年の8月に国際学会で発表が1件採択されている。以上の理由から、研究が当初の計画通り進行していると判断できる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2024年度には、これまでの研究発表の内容を論文にまとめる作業を進めるとともに、項削除など他の現象にも注意を払いながら、本研究の提案を発展させていく。8月に発表する内容へのフィードバックに基づき、分析を発展・深化させることを目指す。
