Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

I advanced research on breakdown and backsliding of democracy. More specifically, I studied determinants of subjective views of democracy and preferences for income redistribution. To achieve the goals, I conducted multiple survey experiments during the research period. Results were accepted for publication at Frontiers of Political Science, Social Science Japan Journal, Sociological Theory and Methods, and Journal of International and Advanced Japanese Studies. I plan to publish papers on the influence of foreign politics on understandings of democracy and support for authoritarianism in the next few years.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
