Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、高精度量子化学計算手法の一つである多参照摂動理論を用いて、光化学反応過程に重要と考えられている円錐交差の探索を可能にすることを目的としている。この研究が達成できれば、高精度な量子化学計算手法を通して蛍光を制御する指針を提供できるようになる可能性がある。また、他の理論開発や機械学習を利用する研究でベンチマークとなる結果を提供できるようにもなると考えられる。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aimed to facilitate molecular structure optimization and locating minimum energy conical intersection (MECoIn) geometries by high-level quantum chemical methods, specifically using the multi-reference perturbation theory. We have conduced the derivation of analytic energy gradient formulae for both complete active space second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2) and its restricted active space analogue (RASPT2). The derived formulae were have been implemented into the open-source quantum chemical calculation package OpenMolcas. We have also extended the method for computing non-adiabatic couplings to enable MECoIn optimizations. Furthermore, solvent effects have also been included.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究により、高精度でありながらもある程度計算に必要な時間を抑えつつ分子の構造を得ることができるようになった。無輻射失活に関係すると考えられている円錐交差構造の高精度な計算も可能にしたため、光材料の開発に役に立つと考えられる。さらに、溶媒効果を含めた計算は多くの化学反応シミュレーションにも役に立つと考えられる。開発したコードの大部分はOpenMolcasの一部として既に公開されているため、無料で利用できるようになっている。
