Research Abstract

機械構造物は、静的破壊荷重よりも小さい繰り返し荷重で破壊する疲労が大きな問題となっている。しかし、バルク材料の疲労破壊の原因となる疲労転位構造のスケールは数ミクロンオーダーであり、それより小さいナノ構造体の内部にこの転位構造が形成することは不可能である。本研究では、ナノ構造体中の異材界面近傍での疲労損傷・破壊現象を実験・力学解析によって明らかにすることを目的としている。今年度の成果は以下のようにまとめることができる。(1)共振による両振り高サイクル疲労試験を寸法の異なる試験片に適用した。試験片寸法が小さくなると、疲労組織である突き出し/入り込みの形成応力が増加することを見いだした。突き出し/入り込みの幅は試験片寸法の減少とともに小さくなるが、それを構成する板状構造の厚さは約20 nmのまま変わらないことを明らかにした。本結果は、寸法に依存せず約1μm幅の突き出し/入り込みが発生するマクロ材の挙動と異なる。(2)透過型電子顕微鏡観察の結果、試験片内部に明確な疲労転位組織は観察されなかった。表面積の大きいナノ~サブミクロン寸法の試験片では、活動転位は自由表面より容易に外部へ抜けだし、疲労転位構造は形成されないものと結論づけた。(3) プロジェクトの成果をもとに、ナノ構造体の疲労に関して企業との共同研究を開始した。対象は金属ナノ要素が集合した構造体であり、実用に必要な繰り返し数では、ナノ要素特有の性質に起因して疲労破壊しないことを示した。数年後の実製品への適用を計画しており、現在、関連した一件の特許出願を準備している。(4)本研究の将来発展を考慮して、応力分布が単純且つ力学検討が容易な引張負荷試験手法を開発した。これと合わせて、高温疲労試験法についても研究した。本手法では、試験片形状、寸法および結晶方位の制御が可能であり、高温疲労だけでなく環境疲労等への展開を行うことが出来る。
