Research Abstract

本申請課題の目的は、代表者ならびに分担者が長期間の人類生態学調査の経験をもつパプアニューギニアと中国・海南島の集団を対象に、それぞれの地域生態系における人為由来の化学物質のフローを記述的に整理し、環境サンプル(水、食品など)と生体試料サンプル(尿、濾紙血、毛髪、唾液)の収集と分析により、人為由来の化学物質の生体曝露量を評価し、また複数の指標による健康影響の評価をおこなうことである。近代化の初期段階にある集団を対象に、生態系の全体を視野に入れた研究をおこなうことで、生態系内への人為的化学物質の拡散パタンと人間への健康影響にかかわる基礎的なエビデンスを提供することを目指す。
2010年度は、パプアニューギニアの調査地において対象集団の背景情報にかかわる情報収集をすすめたほか、中国海南島で、サンプル収集と聞き取り調査を実施した。また、中国科学院の協力によりICP-MSを用いて中国・海南市まで収集した尿サンプルの重金属・微量元素濃度を測定したほか、濾紙血に吸着させた血液サンプルのC-reative Protein測定する系を立ち上げ、海南島の実験室での測定を可能にした。また、パプアニューギニアで収集した唾液サンプルのコルチゾールをELISAにより測定した。
測定結果を入力することによりデータベースを構築し、変数のコーディングなど分析にむけたクリーニング作業をおこなった。これまでの分析によると、近代化あるいは市場経済化の影響をよりつよく受けた個人は、そうでない個人に比べて、心血管疾患のリスクが上昇していること、いくつかの重金属曝露レベルが高い一方で、微量元素の栄養状態はよいことなどが明らかになった。これは、近代化にともなう生業の変容によって、望ましい健康影響と、望ましくない健康影響が同時にみられることを示唆している。しかも、その傾向は、国あるいは地域によって多様であった。
