Research Abstract |
The author of this essay conducted a study of related official documents of ROC, Taiwan, to find formerly unknown facts and reach unprecedented conclusions as follows: 1) The government of ROC, self-exiled in Taiwan since 1949, had repeatedly issue strong requests to UN to provide an assistance to Uyghurs fleeing PRC and protect them, while extending a remarkable financial support to those people; 2) The government of ROC and the overseas organizations of defective Uyghurs had maintained close relationship with each other; 3) However, this relationship dissapeared after Chang Kai-shek died, and the tide has been accelerated since the economic reform began in mainland China since late 1970s. The author had also conducted a similar study in Central Asian region. The results are the following; 1) There has been no related study about "the Uyghur minority in the Kyrgyz Republic : its community, social structure as an ethnicity, and their media in their native language, etc.", as are several precedents on "the Uyghur in Kazakhstan". The autor is pleased to say here that this study is the first one which cast a spotlight on the uyghurs there and their society to fully illuminate; 2) The author could have chances to take interviews of several key persons of the failed "East Turkestan Republic", who migrated to neighboring Central Asian countries to keep committed to their ethnic movement in some organizations. Among others, from the poin tof the author, the recorded interview with Munir Yerzin proves to be so unique and precious for the concerned scholars. Mr. Yerzin is a witness of the second East Turkestan Republic, as he used to work at the government's public PR bureau as a translator of Mandarin and in media as a journalist.
