Research Abstract |
(1) When it is said that love is the invention of the 12th century, that does not mean that the "invention of romantic feelings", but that the cultural transformation of the attitude toward love. Love came to be considered to be sacred. (2) To examine how the people of the Middle Ages accepted the ancient philosophical thought about "amicitia", I have examined the letters of Heloise and Abelard. (3) Examining Petrarch "My Secret" and Dante "Divine Comedy", I made it clear that the Christian faith and Love faith are in conflict and at the same time compatible.
