Research Abstract |
The profile of the tandem wind rotors was optimized to improve the efficiency of Intelligent Wind Power Unit in which the wind rotors drive the inner and the outer armatures, respectively. The model unit with the doubly fed induction generator was provided for the verification tests at the actual wind circumstances. It was confirmed that the unit can be operated at the maximum efficiency at the rotational speed lower than the synchronous speed(the rated wind speed). Besides, the tip vortex from the front wind rotor scarcely affects the acoustic noise and it is essential to suppress the flow interaction between the wake flow from the front blade and the boundary layer flow on the rear blade for reducing the noise.
