Research Abstract |
This research analyzed the tradition of excellent "skills and art" which some expert independent midwives were performing to some junior midwives based on the deep smart theory which D. Leonard & W. Swap(2005) advocates, and aimed at clarifying the clue phase of tradition of "skills and art". Participants were three expert independent midwives and seven junior midwives currently employed. Each participant received the interview twice. The situations of the interviews were recorded on field notes. The interviews were recorded after obtaining their permission and were carried out to literal records. Analysis was conducted as follows. First, the contents of literal records and field notes were classified in accordance with four stages ; construction, formation, sorting, and moving of deep smart theory. th the expert independent midwife, the junior midwife became a member of the maternity home. So she shared a place and feeling with the expert independent midwife. Furthermore, junior midwife realized tradition of the skills and art form the expert independent midwife, when the spot was left to her from the expert independent midwife or she could practice as if the expert independent midwife was exist there, even if the expert independent midwife was absent. Excellent "skills and art" was not handed down as visible HOW TO. In particular, at the place of childbirth, the junior midwife was sharing excellence, such as "belief","responsibility","earnest posture" and "wonderfulness of judgment", while a junior midwife nestled up to[the power which a woman bears a child herself] and[the power which a baby is born himself] with expert independent midwife.
