Research Abstract |
α-Calcitonin gene-related peptide (αCGRP) is a pleiotropic peptide including vasodilating effects. By analysis of αCGRP knockout (αCGRP-/-) mice, endogenous αCGRP showed to exert a hepatoprotective effect, on concanavalin A (Con A)-induced acute hepatitis and chronic hepatitis model. In addition, administration of exogenous αCGRP has a hepatoprotective effect. αCGRP could be a useful therapeutic target for the treatment of hepatitis.
