Research Abstract

The purpose of this research is a replacement of canine cervical trachea by the artificial bioabsorbable trachea with slow releasing cell growth factor. Optimum dose of cell growth factor (b-FGF : basic fibroblast growth factor, BMP-2 : bone morphogenetic protein) was 100μg, respectively. Two-third of the cervical trachea replacement model with the use of a bioabsorbable poly-L-lactic acid and ε-caprolactone copolymer (PLAC) scaffold and slow releasing cell growth factor survived for 4 weeks without marked airway stenosis, cartilage regeneration was not revealed histologically.
