Research Abstract |
Basic-helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors DEC1 (BHLHB2/Sharp2/Stra13) and DEC2 (BHLHB3/Sharp1) are significantly up-regulated in various types of cancers, and transfection with DEC1 or DEC2 decreases cell proliferation, apoptosis of tumor cells. We showed that DEC overexpression exhibits delayed wound healing and reduces cell proliferation, migration and invasion. Therefore, DEC is considered to be an attractive target for anticancer therapy.
