本研究ではミャンマーのマウービン大学が実施しようとしている大学連携地域活性事業の拠点「Community Development Center（CDC）」の組織運営と事業計画作成を支援することをクション・リサーチとして設定し、日本の経験、大学地域連携が先行しているバングラデシュ農業大学普及センター、ブータン王立大学シェラブッチェ校GNH-Community Engagement Center との連携を図り、在地の資源や農業・農村問題の共同調査を行い、事業作成過程を評価、分析することで、国際連携によるグローカル地域研究を創造的に追求する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The plan had to be drastically revised due to the Corona disaster and the political upheaval in Myanmar. However, at the three sites where students from Gadjah Mada University of Indonesia, Kochi University, and the Nagoya University of Japan were conducting collaborative activities with their respective local communities, the PRA using Social Software (SSW) and a participatory workshop, which are ones of the participatory rural survey methodologies, were conducted with the participation of Japanese students from the universities to which our project members belonged and related. An international workshop was held at the Faculty of Regional Collaboration at Kochi University, and the invited scholars from Bhutan, Myanmar, and Indonesia presented their social collaboration projects of each university or college. These results were compiled into a report and a model of university-community collaboration was practically developed.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
過疎・少子化・農業に担い手不足問題が顕著な日本では、大学と地域コミュニティーが連携し、地域の問題を地域の人々から学生が学び、地域の人々は学生と協働により問題の克服を目指す取り組みが脚光を浴びている。しかしこの分野における国際連携は今だ少なく、地域研究に期待されるところが大きいが、地域研究での実践研究はまだまだ専門的に確立されていない。地域コミュニティの問題は日本のみならずアジア諸国において共通する現象で、グローバル問題として捉える視点が必要である。本研究では地域研究でうまれたSSWの学術的手法を国際・国内連携によって大学の社会連携の手法としての学術的、社会的有効性を実践的に確認した意義は高い。
