| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、日本語史上の大きな転換期を示す中世後期の重要資料「抄物」について、①コーパスの構築と公開、②コーパスの応用研究、という２つのアプローチを行うものである。①については、代表的な抄物を対象としたコーパスを構築・一般公開し、これまで空白となっていた15, 16世紀の日本語の定量的・客観的な分析を可能なものとする。本文批判を徹底的に行なったうえで、これまでのコーパス構築のノウハウを活かし、コーパス化の作業を進める。②については、文法・語彙・表記・類型論的研究など多方面にわたって、「抄物コーパス」を利用した室町時代語研究、さらには通時コーパスを応用した総合的な日本語史研究を行う。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research is a study of the history of the Japanese language with a focus on "shomono" from historical corpus, with the following two objectives: (1) to construct and publish an “shomono corpus” and (2) to conduct applied research on historical corpus. As for (1), we have tagged the full text of “Chukajakubokushi-sho” in XML format and made it available to the full-text search system “Himawari”. In addition, the full text of “Chukozenrinfugetsushu-sho” and “Moshi-sho” were also created and converted to text data in parallel. The results of the research using the corpus for (2) were presented to show the usefulness of "shomono" and the historical corpus.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
中世後期の最重要資料である抄物のコーパス構築・公開により，空白となっていた室町時代を埋める形で，日本語の通時的研究における重要な手がかりを与えた。また，抄物は言語研究の立場以外でも，中世文学や日本漢文学，中国文学・中国哲学など幅広く活用されており，多くの隣接する研究分野に影響を与えた。さらに，抄物の構造化・XML化は，人文学資料の適切な構造化の方針策定を目指すTEI（Text Encoding Initiative）や，デジタルアーカイブの国際規格であるIIIFなど，人文情報学（Digital Humanities）の議論にも貢献を果たした。
