Outline of Research at the Start

地震の震源で発生するプロセス(破壊を伴う摩擦すべり運動)を、確率的現象として理解するためにデータ解析や理論計算などを用いた研究を行う。地震には普通の地震とともに数ヘルツから日単位の広周波数(周期)帯域にわたるスロー地震を含む。地震発生帯内部に存在する階層的な断層構造に着目して、確率的予測可能性を検討する。日本を中心に世界各地の地震現象を対象に研究を進めて、普遍的な地震の性質を明らかにする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では確率論的地震発生論構築を目指して、(A)階層的固有性と決定論的震源プロセスのデータ解析、(B)スロー地震のデータ分析フロンティアの開拓、(C)確率論的地震モデルの高度化、の3サブカテゴリでデータ解析やモデル計算を進めている。今年度は以下の研究実績があった。
(A) 地震の初期破壊プロセスにおける固有性の定量化を北カリフォルニアの地震データに対して行い、東北沖と同様の結果を得た。また断層成熟度と階層性との関係について示唆を得た。初期破壊が破壊全体に及ぼす影響について、解析方法を開発し、国内データに適用を開始した。東北沖の沈み込み帯での固有性の包括的検証のための解析スキームを開発した。また階層性と関連する応力場の不均一性について重要なアンチリピーターという新たな現象の同定に貢献した。
(B) 客観的なテクトニック微動の検出判別手法を開発し西日本に適用することで、1秒から100秒まで連続的な微動の特徴を明らかにした。同手法をチリの三重会合点でのデータにあてはめ微動の検出に成功した。 四国西部の深部低周波地震の活動について、独自に開発した手法を用いて空間分布を調べた。歪・傾斜・GNSSを統合した短期的SSEのすべりインバージョンについて、多数のイベントの網羅的解析に着手した。GNSSとInSARを統合した南海トラフ沈み込み帯と中央構造線の固着分布推定手法を開発した。
(C) 震源移動の特徴について、確率論的なモデリングをするための統計解析に着手した。西南日本の微動のマイグレーションの特徴を抽出するため、自他励起型のホークス過程モデルを構築した。石英脈濃集体による微動的地震波放出のモデル化を進めると同時に、他の地質環境におけるクラック濃集体にも類似のモデルが適用可能か検討を開始した。

Reason

本年度は6篇の論文を出版することができた。さらに10篇近い論文が査読中、準備中となっており、そのすべてを上記の研究実績概要に記載できないほどである。主な理由としては、国際共同研究が極めて活発化していることにある。今年度だけでカナダ、米国、チリ、フランス、台湾、中国から訪問学生・研究者が多数滞在し濃密な共同研究が繰り広げられている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

引き続き、(A)階層的固有性と決定論的震源プロセスのデータ解析、(B)スロー地震のデータ分析フロンティアの開拓、(C)確率論的地震モデルの高度化、の3サブカテゴリでデータ解析やモデル計算を進めていく。
(A) 初期破壊による破壊全体の特徴の予測可能性についての分析結果をまとめる。北海道・東北沖の沈み込み帯の階層的固有性を定量化する。世界の沈み込み帯の階層的固有性分析法を開発する。日本及びカリフォルニアでメカニズムがほぼ完全に反転した地震、アンチリピーター地震の検出を試みる。
(B) 火山性地震について開発した分析法を四国地方の低周波地震に適用する。サンアンドレアス断層の低周波地震のメカニズム解析についてこれまでの研究をまとめる。歪・傾斜データによるSSEの時空間滑りインバージョンを網羅的に実施するとともに、sub-daily時間スケールのスロースリップの探索を行う。低周波地震のマイグレーションにおける確率論的表現を検討する。微動の潮汐依存性によるメカニズム推定法を開発・検証する。
(C) スロースリップと巨大地震の相互作用モデルを現実的プレート形状を用いて構築する。階層性モデルにおける現実的地震サイクル計算において、静的核形成と動的核形成の違いに注目した分析を行う。広帯域スロー地震のうち微動クラスターの確率的表現を検討し、その地域的な性質の違いを用いた予測モデルを開発する。
