Outline of Research at the Start

地震の震源で発生するプロセス（破壊を伴う摩擦すべり運動）を、確率的現象として理解するためにデータ解析や理論計算などを用いた研究を行う。地震には普通の地震とともに数ヘルツから日単位の広周波数（周期）帯域にわたるスロー地震を含む。地震発生帯内部に存在する階層的な断層構造に着目して、確率的予測可能性を検討する。日本を中心に世界各地の地震現象を対象に研究を進めて、普遍的な地震の性質を明らかにする。
