Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、これまで独立して進んできた気象・水文モデル予測とデータ同化・機械学習を統合し、「富岳」時代の高精度・高頻度なリアルタイム豪雨・洪水予測を確立することである。近年、台風や線状降水帯などの水害が頻発化し、豪雨・洪水予測の更なる改善や、ダム操作等による緩和が急務である。スパコン「富岳」を用いた研究により、(1) 天気予報で発展した最先端データ同化を活用した、気象・水文モデルによる豪雨・洪水予測、(2)高速計算可能な機械学習による高頻度な豪雨・洪水予測、(3) AIによるダム操作の最適化 を実施し、新時代のリアルタイム豪雨・洪水予測技術を実現する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、高精度・高頻度なリアルタイム豪雨・洪水予測を確立することである。2024年度は下記(a)-(d)の研究を推進した。
(a)極端気象予測の改善： 雲微物理の不確定要素である雪氷種は、モデル予測の精度を左右する重要な要素であるが、現状では検証データが十分にない。雪氷種画像を分類する畳み込み画像識別器CNN開発し、2023年度に複数回実施したフィールド観測に基づき、2024年度は研究成果の論文化を進めた。
(b)水文データ同化による洪水予測の高精度化： 降雨・流出・氾濫一体解析モデルRRIにアンサンブルカルマンフィルタ (EnKF)を実装し、雄物川を対象にした実験を行い、RRIモデルに適切な共分散膨張手法を用いることで、初期値改善によりリアルタイム洪水・浸水予測を高精度化した。また、他地域への応用として、洪水常襲地である千葉県・茂原地域における洪水予測計算を進めるとともに、水位同化に重要となる稼働断面パラメータを自動作成するアルゴリズムを開発した。
(c)衛星ビッグデータを用いた豪雨の高頻度予測： 線状降水帯の発達の鍵となる水蒸気や降水量などの高解像分布を予測するため、生成AIを用いた衛星の非観測域補完に取り組んだ。極軌道衛星による限られた降水分布と静止衛星による広範囲の近赤外観測を融合することで、全球降水量の高精度・高頻度な推定を可能とした。特に、拡散モデルを用いることで、現実的な全球降水量の推定を可能とした。
(d)強化学習による災害緩和手法の構築：強化学習による災害緩和手法の緩和に取り組んだ。初手として、数理災害モデルに基づいた強化学習により、費用対効果の高い防災投資戦略を明らかにした。また深層強化学習を、地球大気を模したカオス力学系モデルに適用し、介入を最適化することで激甚イベントを回避可能であることを示した。
