| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、環境倫理学を理論から実践へと展開してゆくために、道徳や倫理の「保全」という考え方を“涵養としての環境倫理”として提唱しつつ、環境倫理の教育側面についての理論的基礎づけをおこなう。
本研究で掲げる教育倫理学とは、環境科学や社会科学的な学習や、情操面の涵養などを目的としてきた「環境教育」と一定程度区別されるが、教育的課題を共有しつつ、環境倫理学における教育倫理のあり方を検討するものである。具体的には、食の倫理や動物倫理などに着目し、フィールド実習の企画運営等を通じて検証や考察を行う。倫理の教育側面の理論研究をもとに、倫理の保全を目的とする分野としての〈保全倫理学〉の提唱をめざす。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we clarified how to generate ethics that are effective in overcoming environmental issues and what kind of sensibility is required. What has become clear from educational practice is the moral sensibility of "hesitation" and the reflective gaze on daily life. "Hesitation" is a physical sensibility that can be a "brake" of violence, a feeling of rejection of an act even if it is affirmed with moral justification. He concluded that the "sensibility of hesitation" is a "pre-ethical sensibility"that precedes ethics, while reciprocity is its essence.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
現在、人口減少や地方の過疎高齢化などを背景にして、全国で獣害被害が甚大化している。被害の防止のための技術は概ね確立しているが、それをどのように実行できるか、実行できる社会を構築するかが今後の大きな課題であるといえる。とくに、野生動物の殺生に対する否定的意見は、被害管理対策を遅らせ、さらに被害の激甚化と捕獲数の増加をもたらす。環境倫理や動物倫理は環境問題に直結した課題であるにもかかわらず、現実世界に十分に対応できていないため、本研究は「教育」というテーマのもとで、現実の課題に寄与する環境倫理学の足固めをするものである。
