青島および山東省は、中国の都市研究および近代文学研究において取り上げられる機会は少ない。だが南京国民政府の成立後、中国人の手による都市建設と高等教育の普及がすすめられると、青島には新たに国立の総合大学である青島大学が設立され、改組後に国立山東大学が誕生し、大都市北京や上海から済南、青島に著名な教育者・文学者が集っていた。
本研究では、青島大学および山東大学の教壇に立ったアメリカ留学経験者を中心とする 教育者・文学者たちの活動を北京、上海、南京、大連など各都市との往来という視点から捉え、1920～30年代における中国人主体の都市文化の形成を高等教育および文学研究の面から多角的に捉えるものである。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Qingdao, whose urban foundations were established as a German and Japanese leased territory, we could say that Qingdao did not have the cultural diversity as the international city, Shanghai. However, considering that Qingdao was returned to the Republic of China after the anti-Japanese movement against the Twenty-One Treaty with China, for Chinese intellectuals, Qingdao was a city that was a stabilizing factor for Chinese identity. In this study, which follows on from the research project " Chinese Higher Education and Cultural Activities by Intellectuals in the Republic of China : The Case of Qingdao, Jinan, and its Neighboring Cities" (2018-2020), we traced the footsteps of literary scholars from Beijing and Shanghai who gathered at higher education institutions in Qingdao and the movement of cultural they were trying to create in Qingdao.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
これまで中国現代文学史において取り上げられることの少なかった、青島の高等教育機関に集った文学者たちの活動を通して、南京国民政府の統治下の10年間、中国人たちの手で築いた文化都市としての中華民国期の青島の一面を明らかにした。それと同時に、青島に集った著名な文学者、楊振声、聞一多、沈従文、洪深、老舎や方令孺などの、教育者としての一面を考察することにより、彼らの足跡をより深く掘り下げることが可能となった。そのほか、北京、上海の中間点にある青島もまた、ナショナリズムをめぐる反政府の学生運動の渦中に置かれており、ポスト五・四時期におけるアイデンティティの在り方について検討する新たな視座を提供した。
