| Outline of Research at the Start |
沖縄県外に分散した琉球古文書に関して調査・収集する。少点数の文書は今回の計画では割愛し、点数の多い古文書史料群を対象とする。具体的には、台湾大学図書館蔵の琉球関係文書、天理大学図書館の琉球古文書、そして国立国会図書館蔵の市来四郎関係の石室秘稿などである。可能な限り、調査・収集と並行して、それらの史料の翻刻作業を行い、ひろく公開することを目指すものである。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Ancient documents created in the Ryukyu Kingdom between the 17th and 19th centuries are dispersed outside Okinawa Prefecture and overseas. In light of this situation, efforts were made to investigate, collect, and study Ryukyuan ancient documents.As a result, it was discovered that the University of Hawaii holds the "Ryukyu Gohyojousho-kou Bun" ,a total of three volumes. These volumes were photographed using a digital camera. Domestically, Tenri University Library houses a large collection of Ryukyuan ancient documents, totaling 212 items, which were thoroughly examined. Research findings were then presented at a public research forum. Additionally, collaboration was provided for the compilation and publication of a catalog of Ryukyuan-related materials at the Okinawa Cultural Research Institute of Hosei University.
Through these efforts, significant progress was made in the investigation, collection, and research of dispersed Ryukyuan ancient documents.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究によって、琉球国の廃滅（琉球処分）後から沖縄戦において、沖縄県内から散逸、分散した琉球古文書の調査・収集を行うことができた。それらのリサーチによって琉球史研究において空白となっていた領域の研究が可能となった。例えば、琉球国の官人登用試験（科試）に関する古文書を多数発見した。今後、科試研究の前進が大いに見込まれる。その他、海運史、官話研究の分野の史料類も発見されたことから、これらを含めた学術的意義は大きい。
琉球漆芸史関係史料が多数発見されたことから、琉球漆器の豊かな技法が解明され、現代漆器製作への寄与が期待されるなど、社会的意義も高い。
