| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究の題目は「スタートアップ・エコシステムの発展におけるアクセラレータの役割：アジアの事例研究」である。近年スタートアップ支援の新たな手法として普及する「アクセラレータ（accelerator）」に焦点を絞り、その活動や成果・貢献の分析を行い、またその他の関連アクターの動向もアクセラレータの分析を通して垣間見ることで当該地域のエコシステムの特徴を描きだすことが狙いである。
調査対象は、台湾と中国および日本の幾つかの地域であり、事例分析を積み重ね、各地のアクセラレータの活動とエコシステムの発展状況の特徴を解明する。加えて、日本が、台湾や中国の事例から汲み取るべき示唆についても考察する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I conducted detailed case studies of five accelerators in Taiwan, through which found that: (1) The ultimate strategic goals (the development of the startup ecosystem and the promotion of innovation) are the same, but the methods and paths to approach them are substantially different, and the contents and methods of support programs are also different accordingly. (2) Securing their own operating funds is an important part of the business model, and the methods of doing so are quite different. (3) An accelerator’s strategy is also evolving in its own way. (4) Each accelerator is building its own micro-ecosystem that incorporates a community of entrepreneurs and startups to be supported, as well as supporters such as mentors and partner companies.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
1つの地域（台湾）に関して、エコシステムの代表的アクター（アクセラレータのほか、大学・研究機関、大企業、エンジェル投資機関、地方政府等）の活動・組織・戦略と他のアクターとの関係について詳細な事例研究を積み重ね、その上で当該国・地域のエコシステムの発展状況を描き出す方法を採った。換言すれば、ミクロな事例研究の積み重ねを通してマクロなシステムの構造・機能の理解に近づこうとする手法である。地道な現地調査と一定の分析枠組みによる複数の事例研究の蓄積、そしてその比較と総合という学術的な困難さを伴うが、うまくいけば、エコシステムの実態を具体的かつ体系的に理解し、行動の指針を提示することにつながる。
