Outline of Research at the Start

電極―分子―電極構造は分子ジャンクションと呼ばれ分子デバイスの基本構造です.高次機能を持つ分子ジャンクションとして本研究では、分子ワイヤーの非対称化に着目しました.非対称化することで整流機能の発現が期待されますが、安定かつ堅牢な分子―電極界面 (分子接合) 構造の確立が必須です.本研究では有機金属錯体の配位子を分子接合構造安定化部位として機能させる新たな分子設計を基に,このような安定な非対称性分子ジャンクションを開発することを目的とします.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

電極―分子―電極構造は分子ジャンクションと呼ばれ分子デバイスの基本構造であり、分子ジャンクションの機能開発をすることで高機能な分子デバイス開発が 進展することが期待される.これまでに高い構造対称性を有する有機分子ワイヤーに関して広く研究が行われてきた. 一方、我々は有機分子ワイヤーに金属錯体 をドーピングした有機金属分子ワイヤーが高い伝導性を示すことを明らかとしてきた.今回、高次機能を持つ分子ジャンクションとして分子ワイヤーの非対称化に着目した.分子ワイヤーを非対称化することで電流が流れる方向を制御する整流機能の発現が期待される.本研究では有機金属錯体のうち異なる配位子を持つ,非対称性分子ワイヤーを開発しその機能を検証することを目的とした.
前年度までに、主鎖が非対称となった分子ワイヤーの単分子電気伝導度を行なった. STMブレイクジャンクション法を用いたI-V測定の計測を行ったが、高電圧側で生じるノイズにより非対称化の議論が難しいことがわかった。そこで、新たにSTM-BJの構築を行った。また異なる共同研究を進める中で、GaIn共晶液体電極を用いた単分子膜におけるI-V測定が本研究に最適出ることが示唆された。そのため装置構築の準備を行った。次年度にこれらセットアップを完了させ分子ダイオード機能を明らかとする。
新たな非対称性分子ワイヤーとして主鎖の長さを変えた分子ワイヤーの合成を行った。NMRおよび各種分光測定により同定を行った。これらについても次年度にI-V計測を行う。

Reason

今年度までに非対称分子ワイヤーのライブラリー合成を行い、その同定に成功した。非対称特性については最終年度に計測を予定している。また関連する成果について2報の原著論文と2報の総説論文が国際学術誌に受理された。国際学会もしくは研究室セミナー発表を6件行い、研究成果について精力的に議論を行った。以上のことから研究は順調に進展していると判断した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

新たなSTM測定装置ならびにGaIn共晶液体電極を用いた計測装置のセットアップを行い、構造の非対称化とダイオード機能の性能について明らかにする。
