Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This study aimed to establish a foundation for conservation biological control of the stable fly (SF, hereafter) in Japan. I conducted (1) a nationwide survey of SF parasitoid, (2) monitoring of seasonal dynamics of SF and its parasitoids in Fukuoka, and (3) genetic structure analysis of SF and its parasitoid. As a result, (1) five parasitoid species were reared from the SF in Japan. (2) In Fukuoka, the SF showed a bimodal emergence pattern, while parasitoids emerged continuously throughout the fly season without a distinct pattern. (3) MIG-seq analysis revealed genetic differentiation in Hokkaido populations of the SF. In S. cameroni, diversity was observed along the second principal component, although regional variations overlapped. These findings support the development of region-specific control strategies for the SF.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
