Outline of Research at the Start

歯科領域における骨補填材については様々な研究がなされているが、自家骨と同じリモデリング能を有する補填材料は未だ開発されていない。
我々の研究室では、骨移植材として、ハイドロキシアパタイトファイバー(HAファイバー)を開発している。通常では非吸収性であるハイドロキシアパタイトが、HAファイバーに加工することにより自家骨と同様のリモデリング能をもつ吸収性の骨補填材として有用であることを示してきた。
これに、骨代謝を促進すると思われる、マグネシウム(Mg)およびストロンチウム(Sr)を添加しし、HAファイバーとMgおよびSrの複合グラフトを開発し、新たな革新的次世代骨補填材としての確立を目指す。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

Although various researches have been conducted on bone fillers in the dental field, a filler material with the same remodeling ability as autogenous bone has not yet been developed. Hydroxyapatite is the main structure that constitutes bone, but it has been found that it exhibits in vivo resorption when made into fiber (HA fiber).
Moreover, in recent years, it has become clear that the addition of trace elements to bone regeneration promotes bone regeneration. In this study, we aim to develop a combination graft of HA fiber with Mg and Sr, and establish it as a new, innovative next-generation bone filler that replaces existing materials.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

口腔領域において、骨再生治療は、のう胞・腫瘍などによる骨欠損への対応、歯科インプラント治療の際の顎骨のボリュームが不足している箇所への対応など、必要となる場面が多い。本研究では、新たな骨補填材料を開発し、様々な場面で、高い有効性で活用が可能とし、医療水準の向上を図ることを目的とした。
