Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The results of a series of surveys and experiments suggest that, for example, in hot spring areas, in addition to satisfying expectations of the benefits of hot springs, it is important to provide an external environment that includes contact with nature and activities such as walking, in order to contribute to visitors' subjective well-being and wellbeing. In addition, while physical fatigue tended to increase during a spa stay, mental stress tended to decrease. In terms of subjective well-being, positive emotions did not change significantly, while negative emotions decreased significantly. These results suggest that the way of travelling that makes visitors feel closer to local natural resources contributes to the wellbeing of visitors.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
