This project will investigate the relationship between Switzerland and the Empire of Japan during the “Long Second World War” (1931-1945) with the aim of writing a monograph on the topic. Using primary sources from archives in Switzerland, Japan, the UK, and the United States, the project will investigate issues of diplomacy, foreign policy, and economics to reconstruct the relationship between the two states during Japan’s fifteen years of armed conflict.
