Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、近世日本に展開した宗派間対立が、地域社会に及ぼした影響について、地域社会の宗教構造、支配関係、および江戸・京都といった他地域との諸関係に目配りしながら総合的に検討するものである。
具体的には、安永3年（1774）から寛政3年（1791）にかけ、「浄土真宗」の宗名をめぐって、浄土宗と真宗諸派が対立を繰り広げた宗名（しゅうみょう）論争を事例に、論争の係争者であり、かつ徳川将軍家と所縁のある浄土宗・真宗寺院が多く分布する三河国を対象とし、宗派間対立が地方寺院、地域民衆、個別領主に与えた影響を解明する。
