Outline of Research at the Start

物質は階層性を持ち、階層間の普遍性や独自性の解明は物理学の最重要課題の一つである。近年、各階層におけるクラスター現象を通して、物質の階層構造を解明する研究が精力的に行われている。本研究では、物質階層の中でも、フェムトスケール(10のマイナス15乗メートル)の原子核のクラスター現象に注目する。原子核クラスターに関する課題は、クラスターと核力の関係が解明されていないことである。そこで、先端的な理論が導く核力に基づき、原子核クラスター構造を微視的に理解することを本研究の目的とする。これは、クラスター構造をpi中間子交換の回数と多体力の観点から理解する世界初の試みである。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

原子核の中でも特異的に安定な4He(アルファ粒子)は、原子核の構成粒子として振る舞うことがあり、そのような原子核の状態をアルファクラスター構造と呼ぶ。アルファクラスター状態における大きな課題の一つが、クラスター状態が核力の観点から十分に理解されていない点である。

2024年度の研究では、軽い原子核において核力、特に三体核力が原子核の安定性にどのように寄与しているのかについて、従来にない視点から明らかにすることに成功した。具体的には、三体核力を規約テンソル分解という新しい枠組みで解析する手法を提案し、その中で規約テンソルの特定の成分が原子核の安定性に本質的かつ決定的な役割を果たしていることを解明した。この結果は、強く相関した複数の核子から成るクラスター構造がどのようにして安定化するのか、その物理的メカニズムの理解に重要な手がかりを与えるものである。

本研究の成果は、国際誌に論文として掲載された(T. Fukui, G. De Gregorio, A. Gargano, Phys. Lett. B 855, 138839 (2024))。さらに、この論文で得られた新知見を広く社会に発信するため、九州大学より日本語・英語でプレスリリースを行い、学術界のみならず一般社会にも研究内容の意義を訴えた(日本語: https://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/ja/researches/view/1123, 英語: https://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/researches/view/322)。

本研究課題で重要な観点である核力について重要な知見を得ることができたため、おおむね順調に進展していると言える。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今後はクラスター構造の発現を核力に基づいて解明するため、先鋭的な原子核理論をいくつか組み合わせた模型を開発する。具体的には、カイラル有効場理論に基づいた核力をインプットとした反対称化分子動力学模型とin-medium similarity renormalization groupを組み合わせることで、第一原理計算によってにクラスター構造の研究を進める。
