Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
In this study, we investigated diuresis of inhibition of urea transporter -A1 which expresses in renal medulla. UT-A1 inhibition plays the role of urea-dependent osmotic diuresis, and that is expected in the status of kidney dysfunction. Wild-type mice underwent the surgery of chronic kidney disease model or fed with high-salty water, and provided UT-A1 inhibitor. Daily urine volume increased 1.20-fold compared with non-treated group. Furthermore, the treatment of UT-A1 inhibitor ameliorated heart hypertrophy, which was generally induced by chronic kidney failure, compared with non-treated group. Therefore, UT-A1 inhibition may have diuresis power in the status of kidney dysfunction and salt load.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
