Outline of Research at the Start

世界的に増加する食糧需要に対し、持続可能な水産資源の増産と活用は必要不可欠である。一方で、特に東南アジア沿岸域で拡大する内水面養殖により、土地利用の改変に加え、沿岸地下水や海域への汚濁負荷が増加し、周辺生態系の衰退(栄養塩循環の劣化)が生じている。
本研究では、内水面汽水養殖が盛んで、都市化も進行し、さらに津波災害の影響も加わることで栄養塩循環の劣化が進行するインドネシア沿岸を対象に、これらの要因による沿岸への栄養塩負荷の増大を定量化し、水域生態系による栄養塩吸収とその食糧・肥料へのリサイクルによる負荷軽減効果およびそのシステムの社会実装への展開について経済・政策面から評価することを目的とする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、内水面汽水養殖が盛んで、都市化も進行し、さらに津波災害の影響も加わることで栄養塩循環の劣化が進行するインドネシア沿岸を対象に、これらの要因による沿岸への栄養塩負荷の増大を定量化するとともに、水域生態系による栄養塩吸収とその食糧・肥料へのリサイクル(オフセット)による負荷軽減効果およびそのシステムの社会実装への展開について経済・政策面から評価することを目的とし、令和5年度は2年目に引き続き以下のとおり実施した。
(1)栄養塩負荷量評価:インドネシア・ジャワ島流域を対象に沿岸流域における養殖域拡大や都市化が栄養塩負荷に及ぼす影響について、流域水文水質モデル(Soil & Water Assessment Tool: SWAT)を適用し解析を行い、過去20年間で栄養塩流出量が10倍に増大したことが明らかになった。
(2)生態系栄養塩吸収量評価:昨年度に引き続きリモートセンシング(主に衛星データ)および既存の現地調査を行い、現在、河畔域-沿岸域間の水域生態系バイオマス量および栄養塩吸収量の定量化を行っている。
(3)栄養塩再循環システム構築:水域生態系バイオマスを食糧や肥料に活用する栄養塩リサイクルシステムの栄養塩循環改善効果とその社会実装への展開について、流域の環境物質循環(食糧や肥料などの需給)を含む環境経済分析(経済的な価値評価)、および環境政策分析を行っている。土地利用最適デザインの解析なども開始した。
また、2023年12月に現地で国際ワークショップを開催し、100人以上の出席の中広く情報共有を行った。

Reason

両国ともにコロナ禍で現地調査には厳しい環境が続いたが、昨年度に入ってからは落ち着きを取り戻し、現地調査が進んだ。
また、国際ワークショップも開催し、成果も共有できた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

最終年についても、現地調査には、8月および9月に予定している。また、成果の取りまとめを行う。合わせて、国際共著論文の公表も行っていく予定である。
