Research Abstract |
The improvement of OCR technology for converting math/scientific documents in print or PDF into DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System), which is an accessible e-book format, and the development of software to browse/author those DAISY contents have been studied. The improvement of DAISY itself also has been accomplished so that it can treat math/science textbooks in Japanese properly. Consequently, basis to enable various print-disabled students such as the blind, the severe low-vision and the dyslexia to share the same math/scientific materials with sighted people in inclusive educational environment have been established.
