Research Abstract

This study focused on mitochondria and attempted to elucidate mitochondrial dynamics in injured axons. For this purpose, we generated BAC transgenic mice to label mitochondria specificallyin injured neurons. The mice showed that mitochondria in the cell body were fragmented in responseto nerve injury and transported to axonal terminal, suggesting that the change is an adaptive response for nerve regeneration.
