| Research Abstract |
Almost all preceding studies for Chinese urban cultures that appeared at the end of 1990’s are based on a model of industrial policy or consumption, actual works and concrete situations of these cultures almost are not analyzed. In order to understand dynamic creations of Chinese urban cultures, it is necessary to know the activities and works by Chinese young people who enjoyed and participated in cultural activities before industrialization. This study mainly has analyzed rock musics and light novels, and illustrated the ways to import foreign popular cultures and create new Chinese urban cultures among these young people.
