Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have synthesized dipyridylcalix[4]pyrroles. The cis- and trans- isomers were isolated. The supramolecular cage molecule of the cis-isomer was successfully formed by reacting with palladium reagent (Pd(II)(OTf)2(PEt3)2). The cage molecule was confirmed to recognize an octanedioic acidanion by one to one complex from changes in chemical shifts of the 1H NMR spectra. Octanedioic acidanion was selectively recognized by NH protons between the interior of the cage molecule. While, acetate anion was found to decompose the cage molecule by interacting with the palladium. It was suggested that the cage molecule was stabilized by recognizing an octanedioic acidanion (carbon number = 8) which was fit to the size of the cage molecule.
