Research Abstract |
In order to enhance safety and efficiency of transportation of liquid in a suspended container, it is necessary to clarify basic characteristics of the movement of the container and the liquid inside. This research pays attention to the characteristics of nonlinear coupled oscillation of a rectangular tank supported by a pendulum subject to horizontal excitation and liquid contained in it. We analytically projected conditions under which liquid motion of a rectangular tank supported by pendulum transits from two-dimensional liquid motion to three-dimensional liquid motion and confirmed the conditions by experiments. Moreover, it was experimentally found that almost periodic vibration occurs depending on conditions and this was analytically confirmed.
