Research Abstract |
This study was aimed at elucidating membrane fouling mechanism in membranebioreactors and developing a fouling model considering behaviors of EPS inside membrane pore structure and fluid mechanics outside membranes. An analytical method to measure EPSs inside pore structure using XRF and FT-IR without extraction procedures was developed and was found to be effective to elucidate fouling mechanism in MBRs.
