Research Abstract |
Based on a genealogical-demographic research, targeting two clans sedentarized in South Ghor, Jordan in 1950, this study clarified that annual population growth rates in the early (1950-69), middle (1970-89), and late (1990-2010) periods after settling down were, respectively, 0.040, 0.041 and 0.036, and 0.039, 0.042 and 0.036, suggesting the increase from the early to the middle periods and the decrease from the middle to the late periods. However, it is estimated that their population will double by2030, implying the urgent necessity to prevent overpopulation that threatens the people’s subsistence adaptation.
