Research Abstract |
In order to prevent freezing damage for the hematopoietic stem cell, a cryoprotectant DMSO was added. Since side effects are caused by DMSO, a new cryoprotectant was developed. The ability of the new cryoprotectant is not inferior to that of DMSO since the number of the colonies generated by the hematopoietic stem cell where freezing preservation is carried out using the new cryoprotectant is equivalent to the case using DMSO. Since harmful molecules were not produced in the body of a rat, the toxicity of the new cryoprotectant is expected to be low.
