Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to define the knowledge, recognition and the implementation of a care for lymphedema in nurses and breast cancer patients.A self-oriented questionnaire was delivered to 383 nurses, 526 breast cancer patients(a total of 909 nurses and patients). The questionnaire consisted of two parts; one wascreated by the researchers measuring recognition about lymphedema, and the other one was the Sakuda’s scale of lymphedema knowledge. As a result, a total of 630 (69% response rate) subjects were analyzed as valid data. Results indicated that the subjects of 70 percent or more of nurses felt difficult to intervene lymphedema, and most of them mentioned insufficient knowledge about lymphedema interventions.
