Outline of Research at the Start

生殖細胞は、生命の連続性を保証し、その多様性を形成する。雌性生殖細胞である卵母細胞は、雄性生殖細胞である精子と融合し個体発生を可能とする細胞で、その発生機構の解明は、医学・生命科学における根源的な研究課題である。本研究は、ヒト・サル・マウスを用いた統合的な研究を推進し、ヒト多能性幹細胞を起点としてヒト卵母細胞（原始卵胞・一次卵胞期に相当する卵母細胞）の発生過程を試験管内再構成し、その系に基づき、ヒト卵母細胞発生機構の解明とその応用基盤を確立する。
