Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、強的秩序の素励起がもたらす非平衡輸送物性の学理「マルチカロリトロニクス」の開拓である。強誘電体中の自発電気分極の集団励起モード「フェロン」による熱輸送・熱電変換現象や、フェロン物性と電子・マグノン物性のインターフェースとなる原理を解明し、スピンカロリトロニクスの概念を強誘電体やマルチフェロイクスにまで拡張する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、強誘電体中の自発電気分極の集団励起モード「フェロン」の概念をスピンカロリトロニクスに導入し、フェロン輸送現象やフェロンと電子・マグノンとの相互作用を解明することを目的としている。2023年度の主な研究実績は以下の通りである。
①強誘電体における熱電変換現象の開拓: 分担者の井口を中心として、ロックインサーモグラフィ法を用いた誘電体における電場印加時の熱電応答の解明(論文執筆中)、およびロックインサーモグラフィ法と組み合わせるための電場勾配印加システムの開発を進めた。
②マルチフェロイック物質における輸送現象の開拓: 研究期間の後半ではフェロン輸送現象とスピン流・マグノンとの相互作用を開拓する計画であるため、その前段階として強磁性/強誘電多層膜からなる人工マルチフェロイック物質におけるスピンカロリトロニクス現象の評価を進めた(論文執筆中)。関グループでは、時間・空間反転対称性の破れた物質群(広義のマルチフェロイック物質)の合成・探索と、それらを利用した新現象の開拓を行った。
③フェロン輸送理論の拡充: 分担者のBauerを中心として、秩序-無秩序型強誘電体におけるフェロン励起スペクトルと輸送特性、表面フェロン励起モード、ファンデルワールス分子二層膜における強誘電性などに関する理論を構築した。
④本研究で得られたこれまでの研究成果と世界の研究動向をまとめ、強誘電体中の熱輸送・熱電変換物性に関する将来展望を議論したレビューを発表した。
⑤マルチカロリトロニクスの概念を世界に発信するための取り組みとして、本研究メンバー(内田・Bauer)をオーガナイザーとして、2023年5月22-25日に第12回スピンカロリトロニクス国際ワークショップ「Spin Caloritronics XII」を茨城県つくば市にて開催した。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

実験研究者と理論研究者の協働により、強誘電体における熱輸送・熱電変換の物理に新展開をもたらす成果が複数得られており、順調に進展していると判断した。一部の成果については実験結果の信頼性・再現性の確認のため論文化が遅れている一方で、当初の想定を超えた成果も得られている。研究代表者・分担者及び各グループのメンバーが集結して最新の成果を議論する全体ミーティングを研究開始以降3回開催しており(NIMS、東京大学、東北大学でそれぞれ開催)、研究チーム内の連携体制は盤石である。全体ミーティングには様々な専門を有する外部の研究者も招聘して情報交換を行っており、今後もこのアクティビティを継続することで当初の計画を超えた成果のさらなる創出も期待できる。
本研究に従事する研究員の雇用が当初計画より遅れたが、2023年度よりNIMSでポスドク研究員1名、東北大学で特任助教1名を雇用しており、研究体制も整った。2024年度以降、学生の参画も積極的に推進することで、対象とする物質・構造を拡張してさらに研究を加速させていきたい。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

内田グループでは引き続き井口・小塚と協力し、主にロックインサーモグラフィ法に基づく動的熱イメージング技術を駆使して、強誘電キャパシタ構造における熱電応答の系統的な評価と起源解明、強誘電体/金属複合構造の作製とフェロンドラッグ効果の観測、マルチフェロイック物質における磁気熱電・熱スピン効果の観測とその電界制御を中心課題として進める。均一な電場によって誘起される誘電体ペルチェ効果については、現在得ている結果を早期に論文化すると共に、物質依存性の検証などを進める。加えて、2023年度に導入したナノ・マイクロスケール磁気・誘電・熱物性イメージングシステムのSThMを早期にロックイン化し、赤外線カメラに基づくロックインサーモグラフィ法ではアクセスできなかったナノ領域における熱輸送・熱電物性の計測・評価基盤を確立する。これまでの実験では均一な電場を印加してきたが、今後さらに新奇輸送現象を開拓するにあたり、非対称な構造を積極的に利用した取り組みを行う。
関グループでは、時間・空間反転対称性の破れた物質群を利用した新現象の開拓を継続する。時間・空間反転対称性の破れた系では、伝導電子・フォノン・マグノンといった様々な準粒子が非相反な伝搬現象を示すことが明らかになりつつあり、これらは非相反熱伝導・熱ダイオードの実現に繋がることが期待される。原理的には、こうした一連の非自明な(熱)輸送現象は、ロックインサーモグラフィ法を利用することで高精度・高空間分解で検出可能であると期待され、内田グループと連携しながらその実現を目指す。
Bauerグループではマルチカロリトロニクス理論をさらに拡充すべく、非局所フェロン輸送理論の構築やフェロン流の生成・検出原理の提案を主に進める。
